Conversions, Part 2

1,000 questions1 starred · within 5% counts

This section covers additional, sometimes obscure, unit conversions that have appeared on recent exams.

  • 1 sq. mile = 640 acres
  • 1 bushel = 4 pecks
  • 1 mile = 320 rods
  • 1 day = 1440 minutes
  • 1 rod = 16.5 feet

Knowing that 1 mile = 320 rods allows for quick calculations of feet in fractional parts of a mile. For example, since 16.5=33/216.5 = 33/2, 1 mile = 320×16.5=160×33320 \times 16.5 = 160 \times 33 feet.
