It's important to distinguish between probability and odds.

  • Probability = Desired OutcomesTotal Outcomes\frac{\text{Desired Outcomes}}{\text{Total Outcomes}}
  • Odds = Desired OutcomesUndesirable Outcomes\frac{\text{Desired Outcomes}}{\text{Undesirable Outcomes}}

For example, the probability of rolling snake-eyes (two 1s) with two dice is 136\frac{1}{36}. The odds of rolling snake-eyes are 135\frac{1}{35}.
