Trigonometric Values
1,000 questions
Trigonometry problems test knowledge of sine, cosine, tangent, and their reciprocals (cosecant, secant, cotangent) for special angles (0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°) and their variations in each quadrant. To find values in any quadrant, you need to know:
- The Sign: Use the mnemonic "All Students Take Calculus" to remember which functions are positive in Quadrants I (All), II (Sin), III (Tan), and IV (Cos).
- The Reference Angle: Convert the angle to its equivalent in the first quadrant to find the base value. For an angle θ: Q-I is θ, Q-II is 180°-θ, Q-III is θ-180°, Q-IV is 360°-θ.
Familiarity with both degrees and radians (π = 180°) is necessary.
